Wall Protectors and Security Cameras - Designing the Perfect Garage

For many people, their car is their pride and joy, often being the most expensive item they have ever bought, especially if they live in rented accommodation. Most car owners want to keep their motor vehicle as safe as possible from vandals, accidents and minor damage that can spoil the aesthetic appearance of the car and cost hundreds if not thousands of pounds to repair. Whilst most houses do not have a garage attached to them, if you do have the opportunity to use a garage or build one on your land, then there are extra measures you can take to ensure the safety of your vehicle.

Wall Protector Installation
Installing a wall protector to the lower half of the garage walls will protect the car from any scratches or marks that could occur if the car were to come into contact with the bare wall. A wall protector is made from plastic and has impact absorption qualities, so any damage to your vehicle will be reduced. It also means that no dust or paint will be transferred from your clothes or items you are putting into the car will end up on the paintwork.

Security Camera
Car crime is a major plague to motorists with vandalism and theft occurring all over the country. Parking a car in your garage will reduce the cost of your insurance and limit the probability of your vehicle being stolen. If you want to create an even bigger deterrent you could attach a security camera at the entrance to the garage. You do not have to use a real camera and can buy a mock security recorder from the internet for as little as £10. The very presence of a camera will deter thieves from trying to access the garage and steal your car.

Entry Codes
If you are building a garage from scratch or performing renovations on your existing garage, one of the most secure attachments you can make is to install an entry code/alarm system onto the garage door. This way only you and the people you choose to give the code to will have access to the garage and anyone trying to break in will set off a loud alarm. This will make the chance of car theft much lower than if you just kept your car in a wooden shed-like garage.

These three additions to your garage will ensure the safety of your car against theft and minor damage caused when parking. Parking your car on the street is the riskiest place to park your car and whilst parking in a driveway does lessen the chances of theft, there is still a high risk of vandalism and damage from passing vandals and the elements. A garage is by far the safest place to park your vehicle and these three tips make it even safer.
